Friendship lesson

Mrs. Bekkum and Mrs. Sittlow came into our classroom last Wednesday to talk with our class about what it means to be a friend.  Their visual was comparing cotton balls (kind, soft, nice words) to sand paper (scratchy, unkind words).  Which one feels better to you?  At the end of the discussion, Mrs. Bekkum demonstrated how when we say kind words, it’s like throwing a pebble into water- it ripples and spreads joy to others.  When we say unkind words it’s like sprinkling pepper into water- it doesn’t go anywhere.  It sits and builds up hurt feelings and anger.  This was a great lesson and one we will continue to talk about.  All classes were presented with the same lesson as a reminder that we needs to be good to each other always.  What a wonderful thing to be reminded of as we head into the Christmas season.  Jesus wants us to love others as he loves us.

Card games and sharing time

Saint Nicholas brought us playing cards last week!  We spent the morning playing with them independently, in partners and in groups!  It was a lot of fun!

Sharing time is a really special time and each student LOVES sharing all of their treasures from home with the class!  Mason really got the class rolling with his singing, guitar playing Mickey!

Friendship circle

We’ve had a bit of a tough week being good friends.  In Mrs Wagner’s class we are kind- and only kind to each other (that’s my rule).  After spending a few minutes on Tuesday talking about friendship, I asked the class to go and say sorry to someone they might have hurt and asked them to give high- fives, handshakes, etc.  It ended with giggles and most of them in a hugging circle :).  Too sweet to not share!
