Happy Catholic Schools Week @ The Giggle Factory

Happy Catholic Schools Week!  We had so much fun celebrating on our field trip day to our local indoor playground, The Giggle  Factory!  We spent 1.5 hours playing with preschool and 4K.  Even Mrs. Wagner took off her shoes and climbed through the maze and went down the slides (caution- the red slide is fast).  We are so blessed to be a part of Saint Patrick School!

2D & 3D Shape Unit

During the month of January, my students learned all about shapes and what it means if a shape is “flat or solid.”  We explored those concepts further during math center time by playing with varies types of shaped blocks and finding items around the classroom during partner work time.

Recess Fun in the Snow!

Living in Wisconsin has its perks!  Climbing, digging, shoveling, sliding and building are all of the things kindergarten and first grade enjoy doing outside at recess time.  It’s fun watching them work together to create something they can use together to foster their large motor and imaginative play skills.

Daily 5, Geo Boards and FUN!

So much of what we do in kindergarten is done through play!  My class is VERY good at playing!  At the beginning of January I introduced a language arts and reading program called “Daily 5.”  Daily 5 consists of five parts:  read to someone, read to self, word work, work on writing and listen to reading.  In addition to the five choices, my students are able to use our prayer table as a choice.  They use a weekly log to keep track of centers they have completed throughout the week.  They did so GREAT!

Math centers are a classroom favorite!  On this day we explored shapes my creating patterns on geo boards!

Everyday my students ask; “Mrs. Wagner, could you please take a picture of what I made?”  You bet!  Can you tell which students ask me often?
