Vocations & Veterans Remembrance

This week we are celebrating two events that begin with the letter “v,” vocations and Veterans.  The Diocese of Superior is recognizing vocations this week, by asking catholic schools to teach lessons to create more awareness.  Our theme for the week has been how we respond to God’s call.  God is calling us right now to be kindergarten students!

Today we celebrated Veterans Day by writing letters to the guest speaker of our remembrance program.  We thanked him for visiting our school and serving our country.  During our program we learned so much more about who veterans are and the history of the armed-forces.  Thank you Veterans for your sacrifice!

Pumpkin Science

During the week of Halloween we dissected a pumpkin!  We learned about the parts of a pumpkin while scooping out the insides!  We discovered that we were scooping out the “pulp.”  Mrs. Wagner took home the pumpkin seeds we scooped to roast and the next day we ate them for snack!

Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween from Kindergarten!  We started off our day wearing orange and black.  We sang some spooky songs and did some spooky handwriting activities.  After music class we made a special trick or treat almond bark recipe for our party.  We received a special visit from 2nd grade who performed a Halloween reader’s theater for us!  Just before our party we put on our costumes and did a parade around the school and even got some yummy treats!  After the parade we came back to our classroom for the party.  We played pin-the-nose on the pumpkin, ghost bowling and ate some ghoulish treats!  Many thanks to the parents who volunteered during our party and those who brought in the treats that made our party so special!
