Our school celebrated red ribbon week to promote a healthy and drug-free life! Our classroom focus was how we can keep our bodies healthy by making good choices. (Also my favorite picture of our class)

Community Helper Mom and Dad’s Visit our Class!
We are so fortunate to have so many community helper parents within our own classroom community! We had a few stop by last week for a visit! Olivia N.’s mom talked to us about being a nurse and her dad also came in to talk about being in the military. Claire’s dad came with his squad car and talked to us about being a police officer. Each parent had something very special to share and very generously brought in treats! Thank you to all of our parents who serve our community!
Community Helper Counting
In kindergarten, we move around ALL OF THE TIME! What better way to continue working on our counting skills 1-20 than to walk around the room with a buddy, finding community helper cards, counting and logging?
Experiencing Thailand
One of the countries we memorized the location of for October Passport Club was Thailand. Azalea’s mom is from Thailand, so we invited Mrs. Brueske to come in and talk to us about her country. Not only did she share information with us, she brought in a variety of exotic fruits that are native to Thailand. It was fun watching the kids touch, smell and taste-test! Thank you Mrs. Brueske and Azalea for teaching our class more about Thailand!
Fire Station Visit
We had so much fun on our walking field trip to the Hudson Fire Station and EMS with 1st and 2nd grade! The weather was amazing! We learned a lot about fire safety and the history of the fire station. Our most memorable experience was getting to sit in both the fire truck and ambulance.
Tuesdays in the Atrium
Tuesday Atrium is a weekly favorite with Miss Emily and Miss Katie! My students enjoy hearing the word of God and getting to explore the Atrium space by doing hands-on activities; learning both life skills and religious stories.
Grandparent’s and Special Friends Day!
We had so much fun spending the day with our special friends and grandparents last Friday! What wonderful and supportive role models our students have! I tried to catch everyone for a picture, but missed a few! The book fair was SUPER popular and my students felt proud to show off our school to their special guests. Kindergarten did an amazing job singing their broadway song from The Lion King.
Going on a Nature Walk…
Last week we went on a nature walk in search of leaves of all shapes and sizes! We walked around the school in search of the perfect pile of fallen leaves! We found a pile on the north-west corner of the school and took our leaves back to our classroom to observe, log and color!
Reading and Passport Club
We have the privilege of reading aloud with Mrs. Fey on Thursdays! My students were very engaged in the story and used their reading comprehension skills to figure out what would happen next!
Thursday was our first Passport Club geography check! My students studied levels 1 & 2 during the month of September and did some additional studying of the 7 continents at home! Their hard work paid off! Every student passed level one and over half passed level one and two! I’m one proud kindergarten teacher! They were awesome!
