March Madness!

I’ve titled this post “March Madness” because we have been so busy this month!  Tons of learning, milestones, spring, St. Patrick’s Day, birthdays, science experiments, etc!  The list could go on forever.  Check it out:

No Saint Patrick’s Day could be complete without building a leprechaun trap.  Everyone picked items to build their trap with and used teamwork to assemble it.  It definitely worked because we found a few treats throughout the day!

Enjoying our treats after the St. Patrick’s Day carnival!  Everyone had a really fun time!

PowerUp Kids has been well underway!  Have your kids been asking about eating more fruits and veggies?  I hope so!  Our class goal is 5 per day and our individual goal is also 5!  If we can get to 5 per day collectively as a class, we will have a Fiesta on the last day of the challenge!  Below, we did one of the experiments out of the magazine we got from HealthPartners.  We spent 3 days observing fruit and learning how it makes a gas called ethylene.  The experiment surprised everyone!  They were so sure the bananas would all be rotten.

My spirit family tying blankets for “Blankets for a Brighter Day.”  Gillette Children’s Hospital will really enjoy these blankets!

American Black History Presentations

Each student did a fantastic job presenting what they learned about Black American History!  Not only was this another opportunity for them to speak in front of their peers, but it was a great lesson in kindness.  I’m so proud of them for being so brave and taking their presentations seriously.  I’m so blessed to be their teacher.

Mardi Gras- Kindergarten Style!

Tuesday we celebrated one of my personal favorites, Mardi Gras!  We learned about the history of “fat Tuesday” and where/how people celebrate it all around the world.  We also talked about how this leads us into Lent.  Our celebration included a king cake (ask your child about where they found the baby and ask them who it was and what they got if they found it), masks, beads and parading around the classroom to New Orleans jazz!
