Supporting our friend Charlie

We had a great informational class about diabetes with Ms. Dagney Willey Adamson, a Child Life Specialist from Children’s.  We learned a lot about what it means to have it and what it means for our friend Charlie from his family and  his Children’s specialist.  It was a great presentation that my students were very interested in and they asked a lot of really good questions.  Ask your child what they learned?

Watching the President

Our entire school watched the swearing in of new President, Donald Trump in each of our classrooms.  It was a historical moment that the kids seemed to appreciate watching.  It was also a perfect time to talk about kindness.  We had this discussion when we did all-school voting, but I told my students no matter who they voted for, we are to treat everyone around us with kindness and it was okay for them to tell a big kid in the hallway to be respectful if they heard anyone saying anything mean.  I really took that part seriously =).  They were on hallway patrol.  The second biggest discussion (my favorite) was about the cannons firing and where the cannon balls were going?  There is never a dull moment in kindergarten!

Koo Koo Kangaroo! Surprise Assembly!

The big reveal happened today!  This was a hard secret to keep, as we were so excited, but so glad we did because the looks on the faces of these kids when we opened the curtain and they saw one of their favorite groups was PRICELESS!  Koo Koo Kangaroo is an inspirational movement group out of the twin cities.  We do their dances/movements during our brainbreak time of the day on the website, gonoodle.com.  These guys are all about motivating and inspiring youth!

We didn’t get a super great class pic because my class was like deer-in-headlights standing next to these guys :), but we got one!  Seeing their faces light up and jumping around with them was my favorite part of the day!

They called me on stage to participate in a song called Pop See Ko!  Ask your kids about it, it was so fun!

Bryan and Neil from Koo Koo motivating the crowd!

Rollercoaster ride song!

Whole school pic!  Everyone say “Koo Koo!”

So glad I ordered my fan shirt 😀!

Gingerbread Houses with our 4th grade reading buddies and kindergarten Christmas party!

After all of our little performances and gift giving, I think our class could form a singing group!  As you can see, they really put a smile on Sister Margaret’s face!

Building gingerbread houses is really tasty work!  Teddy, Logan, Isaiah and Aiden showed us how it was done.

The girls, Emelia, Ava, Kate, Genevieve & Ellie held up their houses with lots of frosting.

My daughter Lillie and Gabby decorating their houses!

Ella, Mallory, Felicity & Greta almost finished with their creations!

Michael, Mason, Maya & Charli adding a few more candies to their houses!

Reindeer or students? Sam and Brode worked really hard on their houses!

The boy table = more candy than graham crackers; Stephen, William, Carson, Charlie, Sherman & Grant.

A day of partying!  Ms. Bowman’s class joined us for an hour of bingo, coloring, crafting, cookie decorating and a movie!  What a fun and relaxing party 🙂
